    Description

    For Your Consideration...
Unique T-Shirt Printed Aboard USS MIDWAY In Yokosuka, Japan in 1979...
    New Old Stock!
These shirts were printed after the ship returned from its deployment to the Indian Ocean and Gonzo Station during the Iranian Hostage Crises
    From Wikipedia:
    Gonzo Station
    was a
    U.S. Navy
    acronym for "
Gulf of Oman Naval Zone of Operations
    " or "
    Gulf of Oman Northern Zone
    ."
    [1]
It was used to designate an area of carrier-based naval operations by the
    U.S. Navy
    and
    U.S. Marine Corps
in the Indian Ocean during the 1979-1981
    Iranian Hostage Crisis
    and the so-called
    Tanker War
between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran
These shirts were printed aboard the aircraft carrier unbeknownst to the Captain and, having been done without his permission, were immediately classified as contraband upon their discovery.
The Captain ordered all unauthorized shirts be thrown into the dumpster on the pier. I caught word of this and quickly went down to the dumpster and retrieved two bundles...about 24 shirts...most of which I gifted to shipmates at that time. Soon after, the Captain ordered the ship's Marine Detachment to secure the dumpster by placing a guard there.
This listing is for one shirt: "I Run To Iran For Nothing-79."
