Silver Salt Cellars,

T
hese
exquisite antique French silver salt cellars are designed in an
Art Nouveau
pattern of flowers and leaves. The sides and edges of the salt cellars and the glass liners are scalloped in a pure
Art Nouveau
fashion. The crystal liners have a star design cut into the bottom. Each piece bears the French “
Minerve
Deuxième
Titre
” hallmark, indicating a silver content of at least 80% silver, the guarantee used in Paris since 1838. Each piece also bears the maker’s mark consisting of the initials “A” and “D” surrounding the image of a gabion, the mark of
Albert
Deflon
, master silversmith in Paris, rue
Beaubourg
, from 1907. This set is in very good condition with the exception of some slight marks of corrosion on the interior of the cellars, a small crack on the upper edge of one cellar, a small loss of silver and a small crack on the lower edge of the other cellar and very tiny chips on the edges of the crystal liners, all due to great age and use. Please refer to the detailed photos on this page. This elegant and authentically antique set will lend a true French atmosphere to your table.
